Double-Clicking Switch Chatter

Root Cause:Inside mechanical microswitches (e.g. Omron 20M/50M), a microscopic copper leaf spring makes contact with an electrical pin. Over months of use, the spring loses tension or develops microscopic oxidation, causing the metal to bounce multiple times per click ("contact chatter").

Step-by-Step DIY Solutions

Fix 1: Firmware Debounce Adjustment (Zero Risk)

Open your mouse software (Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, Pulsar Fusion, or Endgame Gear). Look for the Debounce Time or Click Latency setting. Increase it from 2ms/4ms up to 8ms or 12ms. This software filter ignores contact bounce and stops the double click completely.

Fix 2: Static Electricity Discharge

Static buildup in low-humidity environments causes erratic capacitive triggers. Turn off the mouse (or unplug USB), remove the battery if removable, and click both left and right buttons rapidly for 60 seconds. Then plug it back in.

Fix 3: Contact Cleaner / Compressed Air

Spray a quick burst of compressed air under the main button plastic. If persistent, apply a microscopic droplet of WD-40 Specialist Contact Cleaner or 99% Isopropyl alcohol directly into the microswitch plunger and click it 50 times to dissolve oxidation.
