What is a Mouse Spinout?

A spinout occurs when you flick your mouse very fast across the mousepad and the sensor loses tracking, causing your crosshair in-game to jerk into the sky or floor. Top gaming sensors (PixArt PAW3395, Focus Pro 30K, HERO 2) have high IPS ratings (650+ IPS) and virtually never spin out unless there is hair or dust on the lens.

How to Test Acceleration

Place your mouse against a ruler. Move it 10 cm slowly to the right and note the on-screen distance. Bring it back to the start, then flick it fast over that same 10 cm. If the cursor traveled much further on the fast flick, "Enhance Pointer Precision" (Windows acceleration) is active and interfering with your muscle memory.
