Privacy Policy

Effective Date: September 2026 • Version 2.4

1. Our Core Commitment: Absolute Zero Telemetry

At Mouse Tests (accessible from mousetests.com), your privacy is not an afterthought—it is the foundational architecture upon which our platform is built.

Unlike conventional diagnostic utilities or commercial software that require invasive background processes, system permissions, or tracking analytics, all mouse diagnostics, click telemetry, sensor coordinate captures, and polling frequency calculations execute exclusively within your local web browser engine.

We do not transmit, log, record, or store your mouse input data, pointer trajectory paths, or click intervals to any external server or cloud database.

2. What Data We Do NOT Collect

To maintain transparency, here is a breakdown of data categories we explicitly do not collect or monitor:

  • Mouse Clicks & Keystrokes: We never log or transmit the timing, sequence, or content of buttons pressed.
  • Cursor Coordinates & Trajectories: Raw screen coordinates (X/Y pixels) and movement vectors never leave your client device.
  • Hardware Serial Numbers or Device IDs: Browser sandboxing prevents access to mouse firmware serial numbers, MAC addresses, or internal hardware IDs.
  • Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not ask for, require, or store your name, email address, physical location, or demographic data.

3. Local Browser Storage & Cookies

Mouse Tests does not use tracking cookies, advertising beacons, or third-party profiling cookies.

We utilize standard HTML5 localStorage solely for technical client-side preferences:

Key: theme
Value: "dark" or "light"
Purpose: Remembers your chosen UI theme across page refreshes to eliminate flashing unstyled content (FOUC).

You can clear your browser's local storage or cookies at any time via your browser settings without affecting the functionality of the diagnostic tools.

4. Web Browser APIs & Permissions

Our precision diagnostic suite leverages standardized modern W3C Web APIs strictly to provide accurate diagnostic telemetry:

Pointer Events & Coalescing

Interfaces with getCoalescedEvents() to sample high-frequency 1000Hz–8000Hz mouse micro-packets in memory during active movement.

Pointer Lock API

Used in the Sensor Smoothness Lab to capture continuous relative motion deltas (movementX, movementY) without reaching the screen boundary.

High-Resolution Timer

Uses performance.now() for microsecond-level contact bounce and click hold duration measurement.

HTML5 Canvas

Draws trajectory visuals and histograms directly to your GPU buffer. Canvas data is never extracted or exported.

5. GDPR, CCPA & Global Compliance

Because Mouse Tests processes zero personal information and stores zero user records on servers, our services naturally conform to global privacy regulations including:

  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - European Union
  • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA) - United States
  • Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) - Canada

You do not need to submit opt-out requests, data deletion requests, or "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" notices because we hold no personal information to sell, share, or delete.
